Austin car accident injures person at a bus stop

Some common causes of car accidents may include distracted driving, drunk driving or speeding. When a pedestrian is involved, such accidents may result in serious injuries or even fatalities. Recently in Austin, a person sitting at a bus stop sustained life-threatening injuries after a car rammed into the location.

Police weren't immediately certain as to what caused the car to crash into the bus stop and questioned the driver at the scene. Interviewing the driver is just part of the standard accident investigation. Other components of an accident investigation include interviewing witnesses, examining the point of impact as well as any skid marks, damage to the vehicle, condition of the road and maintenance logs that may help determine the vehicle's operating condition before the crash.

Pedestrians who have been in an accident involving a motor vehicle often have serious injuries, including injuries to the head or spine, as well as broken bones. These injuries may take time and considerable expense to recover from. A personal injury claim may be filed against the driver in order for the victim to be compensated for medical bills, rehabilitation, lost wages, pain and suffering and other damages.

In the case of a person who is killed due to a motor vehicle accident involving negligent driving, the family members of the victim may file a wrongful death claim. Like a personal injury claim, a wrongful death action may cover medical expenses that were incurred. Additionally, wrongful death damages may include funeral expenses, loss of projected earnings, loss of companionship, loss of parenting and household contributions, and the pain and suffering of the victim before death.
