New rules could curb trucking accidents in Texas, US

Car accidents can be very scary and cause devastating injuries to those involved. Crashes involving two cars can result in extensive damages and injuries. When a collision happens involving a car and commercial truck, the outcome can be much worse.

Truck accidents often result in serious injuries and more fatalities simply because of the large size of the truck involved in these crashes. Heavy trucks and fast speeds can be a dangerous combination, especially when you add a truck driver who has been working too many hours and is struggling to keep his or her eyes open.

Fatigued truck drivers have become a serious safety concern for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association. There has been an increase in truck accidents involving overworked, fatigued truck drivers, and the FMCSA recently issued new rules to crackdown on these dangerous drivers.

The new rules aim to regulate how many hours truck drivers can work each day and per week. Our article on truck accidents highlights the new laws and explains how they should lead to fewer truck accidents in Texas and throughout the country.

Truck accidents can be very dangerous. Having unsafe truck drivers on the road in Texas puts everyone at risk. Federal reports show that there were 427 truck crashes in Travis County alone in 2011, showing just how important it is for the federal government to issue more regulations and rules to keep commercial truck drivers in check.

Fatigued driving is dangerous for all drivers. However, when the driver is operating a heavy commercial truck at high speeds, the risk for causing a fatal accident is much higher. Hopefully the new rules will help keep unsafe truck drivers off the road and lead to fewer trucking accidents in the U.S.
