Fatal car accident claims the life of a Texas woman

A morning drive on a Texas road ended with fatal consequences. A driver in a black sedan was supposedly driving at a high rate of speed, weaving through traffic, when the vehicle apparently struck another car. The car accident resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to a child.

A 52-year-old woman was killed when her vehicle was struck from behind, forcing her into the median and hitting several trees before coming to a stop. A passenger in her car, an 8-year-old girl, was taken to Texas Children's Hospital with unspecified injuries. The accident, which occurred earlier this month in Houston, shut down all four lanes of traffic while police worked the scene.

At this time, local authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash. The driver deemed responsible for the collision was held by police at the scene. The specific nature of the charges he may be facing are unknown.

A fatal car accident like this one can have long-reaching effects on the victim's family, both emotionally and financially. The family members of the victims in this case may have several options of legal recourse available to them. Wrongful death and personal injury claims may be made on behalf of the victims, as applicable, in an effort to recoup any financial losses experienced as a result of the crash -- such as medical and funeral expenses. If the driver deemed responsible for this tragic accident is found liable before a Texas civil court, financial compensation may be granted to at least help alleviate the monetary strain and possibly provide some sense of closure.
